Engaging Aboriginal organizations and communities in all phases of forest management has become increasingly important over the last decade. Nova Sylva’s team has developed good knowledge and experience in to Aboriginal engagement and has developed ongoing relationships with a number of Aboriginal leaders and communities in Western Quebec. .Our experience and knowledge is of particular benefit to clients in building lasting relationships and negotiating partnership agreements with impacted Aboriginal communities.
Nova Sylva’s team also has the expertise to provide clients with advice on how to identify and incorporate elements into inventories that are of high cultural value to Aboriginals. Our team works with clients to ensure wildlife habitat management plans respond to the values and concerns of Aboriginal communities. Taking into account Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge and concerns and priorities of community members, our team can develop management plans that emphasize the protection and/or enhancement of various wildlife values and specific ecosystems such as lakes, watersheds and wetlands.
